[Q1] What does it do?
Calculates the thermodynamic and transport properties of fluids (some 1500 fluids to choose from) and their mixtures (up to 50 components)
Provides a special module for obtaining data on petroleum fractions
Calculates saturation and single phase properties in the vapour and liquid phase
Provides some common phase equilibria calculations:
P,T flash calculation
bubble and dew points at specified Temperature or Pressure
binary Tx, and Px diagrams
phase envelope calculation
Saves your calculation results to a report file downloaded to your PC
[Q2] How do I get access?
Register on the ppds.net site using the ‘register here’ link and purchase some ppds.net minutes.
[Q3] How does the purchase of calculations work?
Each time you log on to ppds.net you create a user session. A user session starts when you log-on to the ppds.net site and finishes when you log-off. The system keeps track of how many minutes you are logged-on and decrements that time from the total number of ppds.net minutes that you have purchased. As you carry out the various calculations on the site, you will consume ppds.net minutes that you have purchased. When the number of remaining minutes falls to 10 minutes you will be warned that you are approaching the end of your paid allocation and, in order to continue, you need to purchase more ppds.net minutes.
At any point you can go to the ppds.net home page and purchase additional minutes which will be added to you account balance.
If you inadvertently leave your connection to ppds.net in the logged-on state, the web-site will automatically time you out after about 15 minutes of inactivity. This will prevent your allocation of ppds.net minutes that have been paid for from being used up needlessly, but you will be charged until the system logs you out.
Initially there are 2 options for buying ppds.net minutes:
60 minutes for £10
500 minutes for £40
There is no limit on the number of times that you to log-on. Your available ppds.net minutes are preserved between sessions and are only consumed when you are actually logged-on to the ppds.net site.
[Q4] How can I see how much time I have left?
When you log-on to ppds.net you will see in the top left hand corner of the main area a summary of,
(a) Log-on time and date,
(b) how many visits you have made,
(c) how many ppds.net minutes you have remaining and how many have been used in the current session.
[Q5] How do I get help when things don’t appear to work?
Go to the contact page. There you will see our PPDS support desk information details (telephone, email and Fax). Give us a call and we’ll do our best to assist.
